Orthopedic Patient Information
Orthopedics is a discipline concerned with preventing
or correcting disorders of the body’s basic framework, including
the bones, joints, and muscles. An orthopedic surgeon is a physician
with many years training in the physical, medical, or surgical
treatment and/or rehabilitation of the body’s intricate mechanical
system. Orthopedic physicians may also have additional training
in subspecialties such as sports medicine, joint replacement, knee,
ankle, or shoulder reconstruction, foot problems and scoliosis
or other disorders of the spine
