Gustavo J. Armendariz, Jr., M.D.

Dr. Armendariz is an expert in the field of foot and ankle disorders, and general orthopedics. In fact, he is among a handful of surgeons in Arizona who perform total ankle replacements.

He has been practicing since 1982, when he earned his medical degree from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine in Los Angeles. He is board certified in orthopedic surgery and has extensive specialty training and years of experience in general orthopedics, foot and ankle, trauma, and sports medicine.

His education includes a fellowship in disorders of the foot and ankle at the prestigious Wagner Institute in Whittier, California, where he was also a consultant at the Kerlon Jobe Clinic. He performed both his orthopedic residency and internship at USC. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts, graduating Magna Cum Laude (member of Psi Chi National Honor Society) from Arizona State University in Tempe.

 


Dr. Armendariz has published numerous articles in orthopedic publications, and presented on a variety of topics at medical centers, universities, and for professional organizations throughout the country. He serves on numerous committees, is vice chief of surgery for a major medical center, and has also held faculty positions for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He now teaches extensively on foot and ankle reconstruction. Dr. Armendariz is originally from Brawley, California. He lived in Sonora, Mexico until he was 7.
